The New Power-Roof® Project 10150868 Forest Timber Automation

In its first month, the Fforest Timber Automation project led by Fforest Timber Engineering is off to a strong start with the kick off meeting complete, sub-contractors on board and plans being laid to create prototype roof cassettes with reduced weight and cost but with the same or better insulation, heat recovery and PV generation.

In particular, we are looking at ways in which we can create longer lengths of contiguous timber, using finger jointing or “timber welding” (being developed by TWI), a design that can be parameterised for length and pitch so can fit on any roof using methods of manufacture that can be adjusted so that all the parameters, joints, strengths of materials and on-site installation are designed in to match most roof types.

This is the third project ACTL has been involved in and on completion in March 2026 we expect to have a highly versatile production line producing our practical and innovative Power-Roof® cassettes being produced at scale by Fforest Timber Engineering.
